St Patrick's cake sale raises 136.78 GBP for BBC's children in need

Monday 28th November, 2011

Students and staff at St Patrick’s College organised a Cake Sale on 18 November to raise funds for the BBC’s Children in Need. Aqeelah Afefe baked a splendid range of delicious cakes for the occasion and the staff and students gorged themselves on this feast for the whole afternoon.     £136.78      was raised for the BBC’s Children in Need campaign.  Many thanks are due to those who contributed by baking, buying, or by just eating the cakes.  A good time was had by all, and all those who participated left with a smile on their face and an expanded waistline.  The BBC were very impressed and thanked us for the fantastic support.  They will be sending us an official Thank You Certificate from Pudsey Bear!

The attached photos were taken at and around the cake sale. Note the marvellous range of mouth wateringly tasty cakes on offer. One student clearly had trouble devouring a whole cake in one mouthful, and another spent so much money on cakes that his wallet was soon emptied…..

St Patrick’s staff and students have always been generous in giving money to worthwhile causes. Not only did they raise such a large sum today for the BBC’s Children in Need, but earlier this year on St Patrick’s Day £662.62 was raised for the Save the Children Emergency Fund for Japan following the terrible earthquake, and the previous year on St Patrick’s Day a collection raised £598 for the International Red Cross.
