St Patrick’s staff attend Newham Chamber of Commerce meeting at Tate & Lyle

14/08/2015

As part of St Patrick’s community engagement initiative, staff members attended a Newham Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting at the Tate & Lyle Thames refinery - the world’s largest cane sugar refinery.

Newham Chamber of Commerce provides support for local businesses, helping them to forge commercial relationships with overseas businesses. The meeting gave the attendees an excellent opportunity to network with many successful business owners from Newham.

Principal of St Patrick’s, Professor Daniel Khan, said it was an honour to be part of a chamber that provides such outstanding support to businesses in Newham Borough, which have seen tremendous regeneration after the 2014 Olympic Games.

After the breakfast networking, staff were given a tour of the Tate & Lyle refinery, learning how raw sugar goes through various stages of refining before being packaged and transported all over the world.
