National Student Survey (NSS) 2019

Take the test here

St Patrick’s College is a UK education institution that takes part in the National Student Survey (NSS). On this page, you can read about what this means for you and for the college.

What is the NSS?

The NSS is a national questionnaire which is sent out to undergraduate students every year. It is run by Ipsos MORI, an independent research company, and commissioned by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).

When does it take place?

In 2019, the NSS will run from Monday 4 February, 2019 to Tuesday 30 April, 2019.

How does it work?

If you are in your final year, you will be contacted independently by Ipsos MORI. They will invite you by email to take part in the survey and send you reminders.

The survey is designed for you to give your opinion about your entire programme. It has eight categories and a total of 27 statements, which you can rate from “definitely agree” to “definitely disagree”.

The categories are:

  • The teaching on my course
  • Learning opportunities
  • Assessment and feedback
  • Academic support
  • Organisation and management
  • Learning resources
  • Learning community
  • Student voice

There is also space for your own comments at the end of the survey, all responses are anonymous, and in total the survey should take around ten minutes.

At Saint Patricks College we firmly believe that the NSS survey allows our students to build and enhance a legacy with the College for both current and future students. The NSS survey is a great opportunity to expand on what you like about the college and what kind of support you receive, allowing us to influence change initiatives within the college.  Your feedback is important to help us continuously improve the student experience and to know what we are doing well and should do more of.

Successful NSS results are shared with prospective employers, many of whom may consult this survey to assure themselves of the quality of students and their learning. The NSS survey allows the current student body to support the long standing reputation of the College and build from the efforts of previous students who have went through similar education programmes at Saint Patricks, allowing in turn greater opportunities for both Students and Alumni alike.
