St Patrick’s hosts Fashion Show at Stratford Circus Arts Centre

St Patrick’s College students took over Stratford Circus Arts Centre on the night of 5th February for a fashion show featuring the students’ elegant fusion designs combining Asian, African, Caribbean, Japanese and European culture with sharp modern style, sparkle and craftsmanship. 

The catwalk show was attended by over 200 guests and featured 55 looks, including gowns, party dresses and dramatic theatrical pieces, as well as suits and modern daywear for men and women. Over 60 HND and Degree student designers, models and make-up artists participated in the event. 

The show was choreographed and compered by fashion presenter Emma-Louise Maw, and gave the graduating designers, their invited guests, families and friends, and students from St Patrick’s the chance to celebrate the creativity of the Fashion School. The designers were able to network with invited fashion professionals including Tony Grant of Design New Africa. 

During his speech, College Principal Prof Daniel Khan OBE congratulated and thanked the students. Newham councillor Bryan Collier MBE attended the show with his team and congratulated the student organisers. Speaking after the event, Cllr. Collier proposed that future students at the College could be offered access to council recreational amenities in support of their health and development needs. 

St Patrick’s College opened its campus in Stratford High Street in October 2014, but has a long history of community based education going back to its origins as a church school in Central London, founded in 1803 to provide education to the disadvantaged community of Soho. The College is also working in partnership with Newham Employment Services to offer training and work experience to unemployed local residents.
