St Patrick’s students learn about the importance of networking

St Patrick’s College recently hosted John Mclean, who is the National Operations and Employer Engagement Manager for the Careers Advisory and Apprenticeship Service at Capita Education Resourcing.
He was accompanied by his colleague Sacha, and spoke to students on the importance of networking and getting connected, as well as sharing his background in employability and education. He explained how students can build enduring, mutually beneficial relationships.
He and Sacha also conducted an exercise in the class to show students that networking can range from your closest friends to professionals, and explain that it is always easiest to start networking with the people to whom you are closest: friends, family, neighbours, present and former co-workers/employers, faculty, and classmates.
The students thoroughly enjoyed these intensive workshops and practical training, and were happy to gain a deep insight into the practice of networking.
