St Patricks' students celebrate Heritage Day

November, 2017

The Student Council recently held their first event for the year: ‘Heritage Day’. This event was the first of its kind at St Patrick’s, and was led by Events & Engagement Officer Yanniecke Johnson. There’s no better combination than food, music, and a good time.

Heritage Day celebrated the different cultures within St Patrick’s, creating a community feel and giving students the chance to get to know one another.

Students dressed in their traditional cultural attire, made mouth-watering dishes from their home countries (such as Nigeria, Jamaica, and the Philippines), and provided music to go with the vibe.

Academic Officer Abbi Odumesi said the event was “simple and inspiring; a friendly and welcoming exchange of cultural views and shared interest in promoting happiness and wellbeing.”

Everyone enjoyed themselves so much that they have asked for another one to be organised. The Student Council now plan to make Heritage Day a new St Patrick’s tradition.
