St Patrick’s Mentoring Scheme

The mentors are all St Patrick’s alumni. They will host informative discussions and offer advice based on their own experiences of how best to navigate a HND course and complete it successfully.We are proud to announce the St Patrick’s Mentoring Scheme, a brand new initiative to provide extra pastoral guidance and support to newly inducted students. The scheme was piloted last term and is now in full swing, returning this month with new workshop sessions.

The scheme aims to:

Facilitate peer group discussion and learning
Inform students on how to achieve a balance between college, work, and personal life
Offer pastoral support to new students
Create a safe space where students can discuss concerns they feel they can’t share with members of staff

Feedback so far has been positive: students have said that the sessions have given them the inspiration to push through with their studies and feel that their goals are attainable. Mentors have also given encouraging feedback, saying that by taking part in the scheme they are making a positive impact in the educational lives of others.

We would like to thank the current set of mentors for their participation in hosting the initial sessions, as well as the students who have attended them, and we hope they will continue to make use of this enriching initiative.
