They come from all walks of life and represent the diversity of the communities that we serve. All are dedicated to making the community little friendlier and more comfortable for everyone.

For almost 20 years our services have enabled over 11,000 people from all backgrounds to share their skills, knowledge and experience with their community.
We also support over 400 local not-for-profit groups by giving them the skills they need to manage volunteers effectively.
We are here to bring out the best in volunteering: for volunteers, for organisations, for the people being helped and for the borough of Hackney.
Our services are specifically tailored to build the capacity of community organisations through good quality volunteer management, while ensuring local people receive the support they need to progress.
Our aims are to improve employment outcomes, build social cohesion, boost mental wellbeing and reduce social isolation.
Our model is to work in partnership with organisations and local people, facilitating the bridging of division across communities.
Working For Us
We are looking for a dynamic and engaging Employment Advisor to join our team at Volunteer Centre Hackney and help people with mental health issues and other high support needs into paid employment. We provide intensive individualised support to people to enable them to start and continue a successful volunteering placement and ultimately, progress into employment. Through workshops, training and individual support, people are supported to gain confidence, vocational skills and resilience with a reduction in social isolation.
We are seeking a candidate who has a real understanding of the barriers that people face, who have extensive mental health support needs, and who may have never worked in a paid role, to progress towards life goals; and who is equally happy with both providing group support via workshops, as they are providing individual 1:1 support.
We are flexible about whether the role is part-time or full-time as we are keen to find the right person. This can be discussed at interview. This role will be working in a team of three working closely with the Project Manager and Project Support Worker to support people to realise their goals.
